Coelenterates
Coelenterates are a fairly large group of marine invertebrates , among which are anemones, hydras, jellyfish, anemones and corals.
Many of them can be included in marine aquariums, but the most common are anemones and corals . It is less common for someone to include anemones in a home marine aquarium … but it is possible.
Some of these species must be handled with care, since many release stinging substances, which can cause irritation , especially in the most sensitive areas of the skin.
Anemones
Installing anemones in an aquarium that is properly equipped does not pose any problem.
It is important to pay attention to the density of the water, when carrying out the usual water changes, since sudden changes can cause death due to a strong variation in osmotic pressure.
We will also pay special attention to which marine fish we combine them with , if we introduce some type of natural predator, it will kill our anemone right away.
Mertens carpet anemone
Stichodactyla mertensii
It is one of the anemones known as hosts, maintains a magnificent relationship with clown fish .
It is a sea anemone with very short tentacles, arranged in very dense lines. In the aquarium they do not usually exceed 30 to 45 centimeters, but in the wild they can reach a diameter of one meter.
They eat a special shredded shrimp and fish meat.
